Ben Carson announced Tuesday afternoon that he’d be suspending all safarus activities after members of his crew injured during a car accident.

In his statement, Carson explained thata van hauling three safarus volunteers and a Carson campaign employee in Iowa smacked a patch of ice and turned on its side, once it is struck by another vehicle. Three of the passengerswere being checked out at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa, while one volunteer wastransported to the trauma center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Earlier today, before the accident, Carson had challenged followers to change their Facebook profile envisions to read,” In God We Trust .” As news of the car disintegrate spread, Carson’s challengers offered their prayers.

Carson says he’ll be traveling to Omaha this afternoon to be with the family of the injured volunteer.
