WASHINGTON, Jan 19( Reuters) – A serviceman helping campaign for U.S. Republican presidential campaigner Ben Carson has died after being injured in a car accident in Iowa on Tuesday, according to a statement from a infirmary in Omaha, Nebraska, released after Carson’s campaign.

Campaign volunteer Braden Joplin, 25, was killed in Nebraska Medical Center after being admitted in critical condition following the accident in Atlantic, Iowa, the statement said.

Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, temporarily suspended his safarus and was traveling from South Carolina to Omaha where he was planning to meet with Joplin’s family members and offer his condolences.
