Why would anyone dress Casey Affleck in a white-hot sheet and try to pass him off as a specter? It all started when David Lowery read an article about shakes and saw “the worlds” was ending

David Lowery invested much of last-place summer appearing sick to his stomach. The administrator was so nervous about filming A Ghost Story that he filmed it in secret. We watch and watch until C plainly sits up on the slab and strolls out, wearing the expanse.

Its funny, until its not. The image of phantom Affleck trudging home, membrane dragging in the mud, is piercingly pathetic. Back at the members of this house unlike Patrick Swayze in Ghost he is unable to communicate with his partner. So he becomes a silent witness to her heartbreak. Time guides, “the worlds” is moving forward, and he is caught in the members of this house seeing eternity.

Lowery, 36, wrote the first draft in a single daylight last spring. Having aimed Mara and Affleck in his breakthrough movie, 2013 s outlawed narration Aint Them Bodies Saints, he asked them to make this weird little movie in Texas. A Ghost Story opened with a small freeing in the US, but spread to 400 cinema. Does he worry that someone will walk in expecting something akin to Patrick Swayze and a pottery wheel? Lowery gestures and grants one last grin. The marketing has been very clear about what the movie is, he responds. But I have no doubt that at some multiplex in America right now, someone is very angry that they just consume $15 and assumed they were going a fright film.
