Five British boys believed to be members of parliament and director of Warrington-based indie strip Viola Beach have died in a gondola disintegrate in Sweden.

The followers, aged between 19 and 35, died when their automobile crushed into a street hurdle and threw more than 80 ft off a bridge into a canal near the capital, Stockholm.

Stockholm police spokesperson Eva Nilsson said on Saturday that divers had recovered the bodies of five men. Homages immediately flooded in on social media to the Cheshire band and their administrator.

The cause of the accident on the E4 highway in Sodertalje district, south-west of Stockholm, was not aware. Swedish media said that at the moment of its pre-dawn coincidence, the bridge over the Sodertalje canal was closing after it had been opened to let a ship sail through. The bridge, at the Saltskogs junction between the E4 and the E20 motorways, has a middle section that rises immediately upwards without tilting, leaving a breach that the car drove into.

Viola Beach consisted of guitarist and vocalist Kris Leonard, guitarist River Reeves, bassist Tomas Lowe, and drummer Jack Dakin. The stripes director was Craig Tarry.

Tarry was described as a human of unshakable confidence and a enthusiastic Manchester City fan. The football clubs devotees were rallying on Twitter to arrange a round of praise during the course of its Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur Premier League match, due to kick off on Sunday in Manchester.

The Hollywood branch of the Manchester City Supporters Club said: We are destroyed at the loss of blue-blooded Craig Tarry in the accident.

Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens posted: So sorry to hear the information about Viola Beach and their administrator. The saddest news. Reasoning of all their families at this awful duration.
