Researchers at cybersecurity firm Keen Lab have managed to cause a Tesla’s self-driving feature to swerve off course and into the wrong road, employing merely a few stickers they placed on the road.

What’s worrying about this attack is how easy it is for potential malevolent intruders, as you wouldn’t even have to connect to the vehicle physically or remotely.

“This kind of attack is simple to deploy, and the materials are easy to obtain.”

The team hopes that its full potential defects they uncovered can be dealt with by the manufacturers, helping them improve the stability and reliability of their automated car systems.
